My Services

Manuscript Critique

$0.005 per word

Looking for in-depth feedback on your manuscript, but don’t want to pay for a pricey developmental editor?

My manuscript critique package provides thorough feedback on your story, including in-line comments on plot, characterization, pacing, and more.

Please note that I am now booking out 1-2 months in advance, so I strongly encourage advanced bookings if you want to guarantee your slot.

What You’ll Get:

  • Thorough in-line comments on your document with developmental feedback on plot development, characters, story pacing, worldbuilding, consistency issues, plot holes & more (+ my reader reactions throughout your novel!)

  • 5+ page edit letter diagnosing your novel’s areas for improvement and addressing questions such as: did the plot pacing and character development feel natural? were there any plot holes or contradictions that need to be corrected? were there any scenes in the book where i wanted more, or that i believe are unnecessary? did your characters feel consistent and compelling? did the story have good flow? were there any moments that took me out of the story?

  • Personalized feedback. To ensure my feedback is as helpful as possible, I’ll provide a pre-critique questionnaire where you can ask me specific questions about pain points and request focused attention on areas you’re concerned about, so I can cater my feedback to your specific concerns. If requested, I also can look over your synopsis and proposed genre to see if your marketing/querying strategy is aligned with what’s on the page!

  • Line Level Add-On (+ $0.002 per word): Line level feedback on word choice, awkward sentences, clunky descriptions, cliche phrasing, inconsistencies in character voice, and more.

“Brielle is a sharp reader, able to pinpoint and articulate highly specific reactions and questions to all elements of your story. While her feedback is deeply thoughtful and detail-oriented, it’s also sensitive, motivating, and fun! Sharing my work with her was like giving my project to a smart, trusted friend. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“I had close to twenty people read my work (including an editor with 27 years of experience in my genre) before I sent it to Brielle in search of a fresh perspective. The story elements she identified as needing work were completely different from any of the feedback I had received from others, and all of it was bang-on. I was totally ready to publish this thing and just wanted a sanity check. Well, thank god I doublechecked. This is my first book of a thirty-book series, and so it had to be the strongest it could possibly be. Brielle made that happen by pointing out areas—character introductions, tick motivations, and interactions—that could be strengthened. I had full intention of going back to my original dev editor for the other 29 books, but honestly, Brielle's feedback is more actionable, more aligned with what I feel will strenghten the stories, and frankly, more worth my money. I know, I know, this is art, not commerce, but I don't like to throw money away. Brielle is worth every penny.”

“Oh my goodness I was blown away with Brielle and her manuscript critique! I debated the line level add on & am so happy I went ahead and took that leap. To hear her thoughts & critiques line by line was not only helpful to better me as a writer but also heartwarming to see where she swooned. I highly recommend using Brielle & have already booked her for my next project.”

"Brielle has been able to provide the perfect balance of encouragement and offering feedback. Her ability to engage with my story and ask questions to show where I need to articulate the thoughts of the character more clearly, are incredibly helpful."

“I cannot thank Brielle enough for her brilliant feedback on my manuscript! I had a good feeling about my story, but I knew there were a few things that were just…off. Brielle was able to articulate so many issues I could feel about the manuscript but couldn't quite figure out how to fix. I really appreciated her insightful explanations of why some things weren't landing, and was super grateful for her concrete suggestions on how to fix them. Her feedback was constructive, encouraging, and everything I needed to take my story to the next level. I'm currently in the middle of another project, and I cannot wait to finish it so I can work with her again. I highly recommend Brielle's services!

Brielle's critique helped me to see my work through a fresh perspective, and I truly appreciate the time and effort you put into it. The in-line comments were thorough and constructive with some funny comments sprinkled in. And the edit letter was a great overview of the pressure points throughout my manuscript.
